The Bronte neighbourhood is in southwest Oakville, with the shore of Lake Ontario as its southern boundary. Bronte was established in 1834, and was a commercial shipping centre for grain and timber, and later became a commercial fishing port, with its two harbours. Bronte is an access point for the waterfront trail system, and it has a waterfront park with a beach, lighthouse, play and picnic areas, pier, and boardwalk. The area has both a small-town, cottagey feel and urban dining and other amenities. Some housing is older, in cottage styles, but there are also new developments of condo highrises, as well as newer single- and semi-detached homes.

Bronte West

The Clearview neighbourhood is in southeast Oakville, at Oakville's eastern-most boundary, Winston Churchill Blvd. It is an older, family-oriented neighbourhood with plenty of park lands, and green space, including wooded areas. Homes are generally from the late 1980s-1990s. Most homes are large 2-storey single detached, and there are also townhomes and semi-detached homes. The southeast area is commercial/industrial, with some undeveloped areas. Clearview offers good access to Highway 403 and the QEW.

Clearview

College Park is in northeast Oakville, with Sixteen Mile Creek forming the western boundary, QEW to the south, Upper Middle Rd to the north, and Trafalgar Rd to the east. This neighbourhood features Sheridan College, and there is a mix of students, families, and seniors. Housing is also varied, with plenty of apartment and condo highrises, single detached homes from the 1960s-1970s, townhomes, and duplexes. There is a golf course, wooded areas, and plenty of parklands, as well as shopping and services areas.

College Park

The Eastlake neighbourhood is in southeast Oakville, in the very southeast corner, with the shore of Lake Ontario as its southern boundary. It is also known as Ford, Charnwood, and Ennisclare Park. This residential neighbourhood features older, detached homes from the 1960s–1970s on good-sized lots. Some of these homes have had renovations, and there are also new builds on established lots and grand lakefront properties. This area offers convenient access to major highways.

Eastlake

Glen Abbey is a large neighbourhood located in northwest Oakville, and is known for being home to the famous Glen Abbey Golf Club. Glen Abbey was a planned community, developed in the 1980s-1990s. This neighbourhood features many green spaces, park lands, and trails, and Fourteen Mile Creek runs through the southwest region. There are also pockets of commercial and shopping areas. Most homes are single-detached, 2-storeys, and there are larger homes on ravine lots, as well as pockets of townhomes and condo highrises.

Glen Abbey

Iroquois Ridge North, also known as Wedgewood Creek, is a young family-oriented neighbourhood in northeastern Oakville. Development of this area took place in the 1980s, with some more recent builds. The area has very good access to all major highways. Housing is mainly 2-storey single detached homes, as well as townhomes. The area has trails and plenty of green spaces and parks, as well as shopping areas in the northwest corner and at Eighth Line and Upper Middle Rd.

Iroquois Ridge North

The Iroquois Ridge South neighbourhood is in northeast Oakville, just north of the QEW. This is an older neighbourhood with larger lots and mature trees. Homes are mostly single-detached 2-storeys and bungalows, with some areas of semi-detached and townhomes. Iroquois Ridge South features plenty of wooded spaces, trails, and park lands.

Iroquois Ridge South

Old Oakville is in south central Oakville, immediately east of Central Oakville, and with Lake Ontario as its southern boundary. This is the area of Oakville's original settlement, in 1827, and it features many historic buildings and homes, mature trees, and a historic shopping district. Also in this neighbourhood are the harbour, central library, museum, boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, a performing arts centre, lakefront parks, and trails. The residential areas are affluent, with a mix of housing: lakefront mansions, cottages and older homes, new, larger homes replacing the older homes, luxury condo highrises, and townhomes, The QEW/Hwy 403 is easily accessible from Old Oakville.

Old Oakville

Palermo West, also known as Bronte Creek, is located in northwest Oakville, at Oakville's western boundary. This is a newer (pre-2011), planned residential development, with single-detached and semi-detached homes as well as townhouses. Bronte Creek runs through the southern part of this neighbourhood, at Bronte Creek Provincial Park, and Fourteen Mile Creek runs through the northeastern part. There is plenty of green space and wooded, natural areas. Palermo West has good access to Highways 407 and 403.
