Our School
Cadarackque Public School is a dual track school. We offer both an English and a French Immersion program. We have 10 English stream classes from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 and 20 French Immersion stream classes from Grades 1 to 8. Our school opened in September 1991 and is located in a developing suburban area between Highway 401 and Highway #2 in Ajax. We currently have an enrolment of about 685 students representing a variety of ethnic backgrounds. Cadarackque P.S. has 31 teaching staff, including a teacher-librarian, 3 educational assistants, 3 custodians, 2 secretaries, and 2 administrators.
Our school continues to provide an excellent opportunity for students to develop respect for diversity and to benefit from the expertise of specialists in academic and extracurricular areas. Programs
French Immersion
The French Immersion program starts in Grade one. Students can continue at a local high school with this program in order to obtain the Certificate of Immersion Studies. There is an information session held at Cadarackque on the first Wednesday of February at 7:00 pm each year. Click on the link below to view more information regarding this program.
Student Leadership Team
The "Student Leadership Team" is a program that involves representatives from intermediate classes at Cadarackque. This team meets each week at lunch to discuss issues and to talk about how to improve our school community.
Daycare
Schoolhouse Playcare Centres of Durham, in partnership with Cadarackque Public School, has provided non-profit licensed child care since the schools inception. Our play-based curriculum follows current best practises, Ontario’s Early Learning Framework and supports learning by following the childrens’ interests and natural curiosity. These high quality programmes provide care for children 18 Months – 12 years of age. Care is also available during non-school days such as: P.A.Days, Christmas & March Breaks as well as during the summer.
