About The Lighthouse Learning and Development

The Lighthouse Learning and Development Centre is a private school for children with autism in York Region. Our focus is on academic success from grades K-12. We understand each child with autism is unique and special in their own way. Every child with autism has specific learning barriers that most mainstream educational facilities don’t understand. We help each child overcome these barriers to ensure academic success. We also understand that while every child may have their learning barriers, they also have amazing strengths. We encourage those strengths and teach our children to be proud of themselves and what they can accomplish.

The Lighthouse Learning and Development is located in Aurora Village

Aurora Village is a long, narrow strip along Yonge Street from just north of St. John's Sideroad in the north to the start of Industrial Parkway in the south. This area features Aurora's distinctive downtown—a busy street of shops, boutiques, salons, restaurants, and offices—that still manages to maintain a small-town feel. It includes the historic centre of Aurora, with a Farmers' Market, historic buildings, and parks, as well as residential areas to the east of Yonge Street. Along the eastern boundary, Industrial Parkway, is a series of commercial and industrial enterprises.
