Greenbriar Sr. Public School opened in 1973 and has a student population of approximately 550. The school’s motto is, “Together Everyone Achieves More” (TEAM), and our mission is to learn, teach and work together towards achieving student success with our motto in mind. Greenbriar’s academic and athletic programs are focused on this mission. Students participate in a variety of extracurricular activities which include a wide variety of sports, art, yearbook, media, music (instrumental and drumming) and various leadership opportunities. Through these opportunities, they learn discipline and leadership skills, and experience the value of team spirit. Greenbriar hosts four regional special educations programs, including: The Regional Intermediate Developmentally Delayed Program, The Regional Intermediate Enhanced Learning Program, Regional Intermediate Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Program and The Regional Intermediate General Learning Disabilities Program (IGLD).
The Northgate neighbourhood is in east central Brampton, and is one of the older neighborhoods in the city, one of Bramalea's alphabetically-named planned developments beginning in the 1970s. This neighbourhood's street names include the "G," "J," and "P" phases. Housing is a mix of single-detached homes, semi-detached homes, and townhome complexes. The neighbourhood has a small lake, plenty of green space, park lands, trails, recreation centres, schools, and pockets of commercial services.
