Conestoga Public School’s mission is to create an inclusive environment which encourages children to become independent lifelong learners who value respect and responsibility for themselves and for their learning community.

Conestoga is one of several kindergarten to grade 5 schools in the Heart Lake area of Brampton. Approximately 500 students attend this mostly walk-to school, with a few students in our special education and junior enhanced learning classes riding buses to and from school each day. Conestoga was very excited to welcome full-day kindergarten for the 2012 school year. The school mascot is the cougar, however the school also proudly displays a covered wagon, symbolizing the journey that settlers took on the Conestoga Trail that led them, two centuries ago, north to Canada, The reference to “journey” is also significant in Conestoga’s slogan, “Learning for a Lifetime,” which recognizes the importance of the continuous path we all travel throughout our daily lives, encountering new experiences and acquiring new knowledge.

The Conestoga community is rich with diversity and alive with activities. The large parent volunteer base, committed school council, enthusiastic student parliament and dynamic staff can always be found engaging with students in clubs, sports and learning. Students, parents, and staff have a variety of choices to actively participate in school life. Whether they enjoy academics, the arts, athletics, or leadership opportunities, there is something for everyone. Conestoga’s library and computer lab are lively hubs of learning, and there are several music and drama presentations to look forward to each year. Conestoga is focused on ensuring healthy active living by offering healthy snacks on food days and lunch hour events to keep the whole school energized and ready to learn.
