Our School
The Songbirds Montessori School is committed to the promotion and delivery of quality childcare. We got our first Licence under The Ministry of Education in 2004. Our services enrich children’s learning experience, provide support to families and respond to community needs. To maximize the benefits of the entire Montessori experience, we encourage parents to commit to the three years program because by the third year the child reaps the benefits of the time spent and the efforts put in during the first two years.
With our Montessori approach - children can succeed everyday!
•The fostering of curiosity and excitement in learning, Inspired by free choice.
•To encourage the development of “self-confidence” and “an optimistic approach to life”. Balance of freedom & responsibility.
•To help develop independence and good decision- making skills.
•To encourage growth in all areas of language.
•To offer age appropriate learning experience in literacy, numeracy, nature studies and science through the Montessori method.
•To enhance the child’s ability to listen and participate in individual and group situations.
•To support parents in their goals to raise healthy, well adjusted children.
•To promote respect for individual differences.
•Most important - Our teachers learn from our kids everyday.
Pre- CASA (Toddlers 16 months - 2.5 years)
At 16 months, children join the toddler community where basic motor coordination, independence and language development are fostered and individual personality is respected. Rather than a classroom, it is a nurturing social community where very young children experience their first contact with other children and learn to participate in a cooperative group.
Jr. CASA (2.5 - 4 years) - Sr. CASA (4 - 6 years)
Children in the primary program possess what Dr. Montessori called the absorbent mind, the ability to absorb all aspects of one's culture and environment without effort or fatigue. As an aid to this period of the child's self-construction, individual work is encouraged. The following areas of activity cultivate the children's adaptation and ability to express and think with clarity:
PRACTICAL LIFE WORK for learning how to use tools of daily life. Care for the self, others, and our environment.
CREATIVE ART STUDIO with access to art media and plenty of space to get creative.
SENSORY AWARENESS to explore with all senses and learn to describe and classify.
SCIENCE including geography, botany, zoology and inquiry to the natural world.
LANGUAGE ARTS to develop skills of reading and writing and literacy.
MATHEMATICS to progress in number awareness and operations.
CIRCLE TIME, MUSIC AND MOVEMENT and class meetings.
