Bolton is the most populous community in the town of Caledon, located in the Region of Peel. The town, formerly known as Bolton Mills, was founded in around 1822 when James Bolton helped build a flour mill for his relative George Bolton. Bolton East is a mixed-use neighbourhood with industrial/commercial centres south of the railway and along Peel Regional Rd 50. The residential part of the neighbourhood, in the northeast, contains mostly single-family homes.
