James Bolton Public School is a dynamic junior kindergarten to grade 5 dual track school. Our school offers both English and French immersion programming, with French immersion starting in grade 1.
We are located in the town of Bolton, nestled in a large, green space perfect for running and other physical activities. Our children are high achievers, well-socialized and our parent community is positive and highly involved.
Bolton offers a true sense of community for our students, and participate in activities such as the local fall fair and volunteering in seniors’ centres. We also have a strong partnership with our neighbouring secondary school.
At James Bolton, there is a long tradition of academic excellence. Our educators set high standards both for themselves and for their students. Staff has committed to excellence through collaborative teams and continually strive to learn and to grow as professionals. Our teachers have made it a goal to make day-to-day student tasks richer and more purposeful while integrating social justice as an underlying theme.
James Bolton has taken on technology as a school-wide initiative, sponsored by our school’s Home and School Association. Students are provided with many opportunities to demonstrate their learning in various ways, including the use of technology. French immersion is supported throughout the school. We have two dedicated physical education teachers, with one teacher French-speaking, and the other English-speaking. We also have a dedicated bilingual drama and dance teacher, as well as boasting a completely bilingual library.
Our talented classroom teachers strive to instill the love of learning within each student. Our administrative team and teachers work together to provide innovative ideas and initiatives. In addition to our physical education and drama/dance, we have a dedicated music teacher who offers opportunities for students to experience musical theory, vocal activities, recorders, orph instruments and ukuleles throughout their years at James Bolton. Our special education teachers and teaching assistants work to support teachers and parents of students who have exceptional learning needs, including those students who require extra challenges.
Students have a range of extracurricular activities to choose from at James Bolton, In addition to intra-mural sports, students have opportunities to participate in a vast array of activities including choirs, dance clubs and other specialty clubs. As a registered Ontario EcoSchool, our students and staff are active in being environmental advocates, with many students participating in Primary and Junior Eco clubs.
