At Caledon East Public School we challenge and inspire students to love learning and to shape a better world. Established in 1899, we have a long history of working together with students, parents and teachers to create a safe, respectful environment based on open, positive and honest communication among students, parents and all staff. Through collaboration, we strive to maintain standards of academic excellence and to develop lifelong learners with the skills to become responsible global citizens.
Our teachers support students to set realistic, achievable goals that encourage academic excellence and the development of good character. Student learning at the highest standard is achieved through professional collaboration, consultation with parents, differentiated teaching methods to meet the various learning styles and academic needs of our students and a strong commitment to student success. In order to prepare our students for a rapidly changing world, Caledon East’s faculty engage students in academic activities which will enable them to develop disciplined habits of study, critical thinking skills and interpersonal skills needed for co-operative problem-solving. We foster and support well-rounded students who appreciate academic excellence and engagement in activities outside of the classroom.
Our teachers exceed expectations by providing our students with an active extracurricular experience. Students have many opportunities to participate in sports (e.g., soccer, flag football, floor hockey, track and field, volleyball, basketball and cross country running); in the arts (e.g., choir and concert band); in leadership roles (e.g., announcers, Playground Activity Leaders, bus monitors and kindergarten helpers) and in personal interest clubs (e.g., chess club, science club, student parliament and athletic council). Every student has the opportunity to be engaged and be successful.
At Caledon East we set high expectations for students in all aspects of their school experience and foster global responsibility.
