Our School
St. Stephen Catholic Secondary School is a community of faith and centre of learning. We are an inclusive community, rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ, with a mission to develop the spiritual, academic, and social potential of all students, as builders of a just society. You can feel the difference when you walk our halls, talk to our teachers, engage in our school activities or volunteer at our events. We live our faith and Catholic virtues. We're also fortunate to have a Chaplain on staff as an additional source of support for our students.
Our Administrative team keeps things running smoothly, as well as our office staff who assist with admission and registrations, and countless other duties. Every week, extracurricular activities and events bring students, parents/guardians and teachers together.
Academics
St. Stephen offers an outstanding academic and co-curricular program committed to Catholic education. Our Catholic Graduate Expectations (CGE) extend beyond grades and academic achievement and foster a search for knowledge as a lifelong learner. The expectations of St. Stephen graduates are described not only in terms of knowledge and skills, but also values, attitudes, and actions.
Chaplaincy
As a Catholic Secondary School, St.Stephen has the advantage of a full time chaplain who is available to support staff and students. Our chaplain is a member of the student success team. The chaplain is part of our school ministry to support faith development, wellness, and excellence in learning. This development is enhanced through; School liturgies; retreats, excursions, morning prayer and opportunities for service supporting our commitment to social justice.
Living Our Faith
Our Catholic faith is an essential element in our school life. Students and staff are encouraged to put their Catholic virtues into action for the local and global community. We are guided by the Catholic Graduate Expectations (CGE) in terms of knowledge, skills, values, attitudes and actions. In our first week of classes, we speak to students about commitment, faith, respect and responsibility. We encourage our students to contribute to the school community through care for one another, service to others and consideration of our environment. By putting faith into action in our extended community activities, students have the opportunity to make connections between their faith and future goals.
We work together - students, staff and parents - to live our faith. This includes prayer, liturgies, outreach activities in Guatemala, as well as opportunities to hear speakers on local and global events. There are many students involved in different ministries at St. Stephen and we welcome everyone who is interested in participating. Our Chaplain is available to meet with students, provides referrals to appropriate community agencies, and plans retreats and activities that integrate our faith into our academic and co-curricular programs.
