St. Michael is a Catholic School where students' spiritual development thrives through the support of home, school and Church. Consistent with Ministry curriculum requirements and expectations, we offer a complete Full-Day Kindergarten to Grade 8 academic curriculum. In addition, St. Michael Catholic Academy provides an enriched ARTS program (ERAP) which offers students from across York Region, an opportunity to develop their skills, discover their passion and expand their exposure to the arts as part of a complete educational experience.
German Mills, in southwest Markham, was named for the early German settlers in the area, and has a rich history. German Mills became the first significant industrial complex in Markham township. In the 1790s, it boasted a warehouse for the Northwest Fur Trade Company, a grist mill, saw mill, blacksmith shop, and homes. Today German Mills is primarily a residential neighbourhood, with the bulk of the homes being single-family residences built in the 1970s and 1980s, as well as some apartment buildings and townhomes. The neighbourhood features park lands as well as natural areas along the Rouge River.
