The small neighbourhood of Thornlea is in the southwest corner of Markham, nestled below the junction of Highways 407 and 404, and with Leslie Street running north–south through roughly the centre. The area features parklands, forests, and a trail system close to the Little German Creek, which forms the western border. Homes in the neighbourhood are mostly single-detached, 2-storey, on fairly large lots.
