At Ruth Thompson Middle School we believe in strong foundations. Our agenda program which is to be used by every student in every class every day is a key communication tool between school and home, while being important for keeping track of important assignment due dates and housing a record of achievement.

By sharing a common language, we can all set high expectations. Our cornerstone reference is Sean Covey's Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teenagers, with these seven habits listed in student agendas and posted on every classroom wall. Monthly Thompson Time lessons are built around these seven ideas.

The lighthouse is the Ruth Thompson logo, a symbol of strength of character. Every Monday and Wednesday morning all homeroom classes participate in Thompson Time activities and the lessons are based on character traits such as responsibility, integrity, being proactive, teamwork, initiative, determination and enthusiasm.

Ruth Thompson is full of welcoming, positive and talented staff and students. In our effort to be beacons for each other, we are constantly striving to foster a safe and positive school community. Ruth Thompson is known to extend from "me to we" and reach out, as evidenced in our school community projects such as participating in the Terry Fox Run, supporting local shelters, adopting O’Connor Park and contributing to the December food drive, to name a few.
