About Father Michael Goetz SS

Father Michael Goetz Secondary School was founded by the late Ed King, our first principal. Many names were suggested for the school but it was Mr. King's suggestion to name the school after his good friend Father Michael Goetz that was chosen. The first school year of Goetz was located at a campus in Etobicoke until Christmas of that year. The school was then temporarily moved to a shared campus for four years including that half year. During that time the construction of the current building was taking place. The new building opened to the students of the 1990-91 school terms. It is from this location that our numbers have swelled from a few hundred to its current population of over 1600.

Father Michael Goetz SS is located in Fairview

Fairview is a small residential neighbourhood in central Mississauga, just south of City Centre. Fairview was developed, beginning in the 1980s, as a transitional residential area between City Centre and Cooksville. The neighbourhood has many single-detached homes built in the 1980s and early 1990s, as well as areas of townhomes, some of them from the early 2000s. The area is convenient for city centre amenities, as well as for Highway 403 access.
