In 1969, The Woodlands School opened at Springfield Public School with 400 elementary students. The first phase of the current structure was built and opened its doors to students in 1970. Since those early days, The Woodlands has grown to a current population of more than 1500 students and is unique in that we are the only grade 7 to 12 school within the Peel board.

Our mission, “to inspire all students in an inclusive, caring and supportive community to reach their potential as successful and responsible global citizens," was developed by staff, students and members of the larger school community in recognition of our diverse and multi-talented population of students who speak more than 60 first languages.

At The Woodlands, we value: a commitment to learning; critical and creative thinking skills; extracurricular programs that provide opportunities for all; strengths and differences of individuals; generous and empathetic relationships; and a diverse and inclusive community. We believe that parents, the school and community must all work together to help students learn to become responsible members of society, and that students achieve their best when they feel safe, nurtured, welcomed, respected and included.

Our vision at The Woodlands is to unify our diverse community, promote innovation and provide opportunities which engage all of us in the achievement of personal excellence and student success. In support of our mission, vision and values, The Woodlands offers not only a strong and supportive academic program, but also countless opportunities for students to become involved in extracurricular activities both as individuals and in teams. At The Woodlands, participation in activities outside of the classroom setting is strongly encouraged as these opportunities provide another medium in which students may learn about and expand their personal limits, leadership, teamwork, social and problem-solving skills.
