At Britannia Public School, we believe that learning is for life, and life is for learning. L’apprentissage c’est pour la vie, et la vie c’est pour l’apprentissage! Originally located at Rick Hansen Secondary School (September 1999), Britannia opened its doors to the community in the spring of 2000 and became a French immersion site in 2007. Our school supports a dynamic community of more than 800 students from a wide variety of multicultural and linguistic backgrounds. We also house two contained classes supporting students with autism who participate fully in the daily life of the school. Our focus is to create an environment that results in a high level of academic achievement, social responsibility and personal wellness. Britannia is also committed to helping every student realize their full potential, and to respect themselves, others and the environment.

Britannia’s extracurricular and student leadership opportunities include a range of athletic teams, choirs and clubs that encourage students to get involved in the wider community. Character education is embedded in the school’s Code of Conduct, and recognized through “Pride” certificates. Britannia’s school council and parent volunteers are also very active in assisting staff with school activities, including the annual Spring Fair, which brings the entire community together.

Britannia provides a safe, healthy and supportive place for lifelong learning. Our dedicated staff encourages students to develop critical thinking skills to maximize their full potential as individuals and members of a changing society. We set high expectations for all students, fostering character development, equity and respect for differences.
