Since opening in 1999, technology has been at the heart of all Rick Hansen Secondary School’s programs and activities. Information technology is used to shape the teaching and learning environment. Rick Hansen students represent a wide range of ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds. Students can participate in a variety of curricular and extracurricular activities including archery, volleyball, the Sears Festival, the Diversity club, student mentors, computer animation and robotics club. Rick Hansen staff are committed to working with students to help them reach their full potential. The school’s mission is to prepare all learners to be thinking, caring, flexible individuals who can meet the challenges of the 21st century.
The East Credit neighbourhood is in north central Mississauga, between Highway 401 and Highway 403. The East Credit River forms the western boundary, and Terry Fox Parkway is roughly the eastern boundary. Residential development in this neighbourhood started around the late 1980s and continued into the 2000s, so it is one of Mississauga's more recently developed areas. Homes include single-detached, semi-detached, and townhomes. The area features a golf course.
