MISSION STATEMENT

The St. Dominic School Community, together with the family and parish, seeks to promote the spiritual, intellectual, physical and social development of each student, responding to each child’s uniqueness and diverse nature. We are committed to providing a safe, caring, healthy, inclusive and welcoming Catholic learning environment where the pursuit of student well-being, academic excellence, lifelong learning and spiritual growth are fostered within each person to attain their full potential.

CATHOLIC FOCUS

St. Dominic School is a caring Catholic community school with approximately 325 students, of diverse social, economic and ethnic backgrounds, from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. The school is located in an established community area consisting of both single-family homes and apartment dwellings situated in a geographic area located south of the QEW, west of Cawthra Road, East of Hurontario and North of Lake Ontario in Mississauga.

Catholic Education, rooted in Christ, calls us to a unique way of seeing and interacting with our world. Through the examples of our master teacher, Christ, we provide a learning environment rich in Gospel values, Catholic doctrines, teachings and beliefs. Our Catholic views challenge us to use our learning for the benefit of others as we are called to be Christ for others. At St. Dominic School, our commitment to academic excellence is a shared responsibility. Literacy and numeracy, along with Catholicity, continue to be a focus in our school. Emphasis is placed on providing a balanced program that involves reading, writing, listening and oral communication experiences across the curriculum. Computers, SMART Boards, I-pad and chrome book technology are an integral part of the curriculum and support students in the areas of mathematics, research and word processing skills.
