MISSION STATEMENT

It is the mission of St. Simon Stock Catholic Elementary School to enable students to:

• Become self-motivated, life-long learners who strive to reach their full spiritual, academic and physical potential;
• Acquire and demonstrate the skills and attitudes that will enable them to make informed choices for their future;
• Grow in understanding of Catholic teachings and Gospel values, and incorporate these into their daily lives; By providing an environment:
• Where we learn and grow within the context of a cooperative community team of the family, school and Church;
• That is nurturing and safe, where the Christian ideals of mutual trust, responsibility, equality and respect for all are encouraged.

CATHOLIC FOCUS

St. Simon Stock Catholic Elementary School welcomed students in September 2002 and had its solemn blessing in April, 2003. The school currently has a population of 290 students. The school is named after St. Simon Stock, a member of the Carmelite religious community. He lived in the thirteenth century. Tradition holds that Our Lady appeared to St. Simon Stock and gave him the Carmelite habit and the brown scapular. Together our school staff and the Catholic School Council continue to reach out and help those in need in the local community and beyond, through activities which support the local St. Vincent de Paul Society, the local food bank, ShareLife and other charitable organizations. St. Simon Stock students’ and their families continue to assist and support the St. Josephine Bakhita Parish community, and were instrumental in helping raise funds for the construction of the Parish, which opened in 2017. Our school’s Youth Faith Ambassadors model faith and leadership throughout the school and through various community initiatives.
