MISSION STATEMENT

It is the mission of the staff of St. Therese of the Child Jesus School to model gospel values through the distinct nature of our Catholic School in partnership with families and our parish to provide a safe, caring, inclusive, and diverse learning environment for every student. As a staff, we strive to create conditions that support life-long learners, creative self-directed, and responsible students through technology and social outreach projects. We continue to use effective pedagogies in the model of 21st century learning which is ever responsive to our students’ needs.

CATHOLIC FOCUS

St. Therese of the Child Jesus Elementary School is located at 6930 Forest Park Drive in Mississauga Ontario. It opened in 1996 and was blessed on May 8, 1997. St. Therese has approximately 580 students. Along with a regular program our school offers an Extended French for student from Grade 5 to Grade 8. The Patron saint of our school is St. Therese. She was born to a middle-class French family in 1873 on the 2nd of January. The pampered daughter of a mother who was a lace-maker and wanted to be a saint and father who was a watchmaker and wanted to be a monk. Therese was only four years old when she lost her mom to cancer. Therese, herself, at the age of eight became very ill but through her devotion and prayers to Mary, she saw Mary smile at her and suddenly she was cured. At the age of eleven, Therese entered the Carmelite convent and very quickly it became obvious that she would become known as a a Carmelite nun who would have a great impact. “Love proves itself by great deeds, so how am I to show my love? The only way I can prove my love is by scattering flowers and these flowers are every little sacrifice, every little chance, and word and the doing of the least actions for love.”
