Trelawny Public School is a family-friendly community school with an active parent school council and a genuinely caring and professional staff. We have an award-winning arts program, with a strong emphasis on music, drama and dance, as well as visual arts. It is a pleasure to walk the halls and enjoy the music and the visual displays.

At Trelawny we bring the outdoors in, making good use of our interior courtyard. Our school is light-filled and our hallways are music-filled. We are in the process of becoming an Ontario EcoSchool. Our students enjoy a particularly large tarmac and field area behind the school, where students play and where we host concerts both in the winter and spring.

Our school supports many worthy causes, including: MS Read-a-thon, a child in Tanzania, food drives through the Eden Food Bank and Terry Fox Run. We have consistently won gold awards for our support of the United Way.

Every one of our grade 5 students takes on a leadership role within the school. We have spirit days, a friendship club and student peace keepers. We host a Timbertots program where parents and their 2 or 3 year-olds can come in for a story and a craft, to get used to being at school. We host monthly Sharing Assemblies, where we share talents or new learnings, and recognize the character trait of the month from our 10 Trelawny TIMBERWOLF character traits. We raise our sense of community spirit by attending and supporting the St. Mike’s Majors hockey team’s annual School Game Day each fall.

Staff meet with other staff from our small schools network and engage in professional dialogue and professional development. Just like the times, technology is always changing at Trelawny. We are open to learning and adopting new technologies as they become available.
