St. Gerard School is committed to academic excellence, upholding the values of a caring Catholic community. As a community of learners, we, at St. Gerard School, promote the development of the whole child by nurturing the intellectual, social, emotional, physical and spiritual growth of each individual. Using Christ as a model for our actions, students, teachers and parents of St. Gerard School respect and celebrate diversity and live the Virtues that promote responsible citizenship. Together we model Catholic values by setting the examples of fairness, respect and a positive attitude. We are St. Gerard School!

CATHOLIC FOCUS

St. Gerard Elementary School, is located at 1300 McBride Avenue, and opened 1957. This year we celebrate our 61st anniversary as a Catholic School Community, making us one of the oldest school communities in DufferinPeel. Our current school population is 290 students and we are proud to be of service to over 200 families. We are happy to be located next to St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church and are grateful for the spiritual guidance of our pastor.

St. Gerard School is named after the 18th century saint, St. Gerard Majella, who was a member of the Capuchin Order and was especially devoted to helping the poor and needy, providing for both their spiritual and physical needs with his special God-given gifts. St. Gerard is called the patron saint of expectant mothers, since his prayers and blessings once saved the lives of a mother dying in childbirth, along with her baby. We celebrate his feast day on October 16th. In consultation with the community, St. Gerard has chosen its motto, “Lear - Pray - Play” to reflect the Catholic emphasis on prayer and personal integrity and achievement in all aspects of education: academic, spiritual, emotional, physical and social.
