At Silver Creek Public School we work together to be our best in creating a safe and caring school that supports the healthy development of every student, so that each person has the knowledge, skills and resiliency to be a successful, lifelong learner. Through emphasizing the character traits, we create a positive school environment. Our monthly student recognition assemblies, current displays of pictures and student work all contribute to a friendly environment. We welcome smiles every day.
Our school council supports educational trips and assemblies. From visits to the farm, skating, and swimming, or to the Royal Ontario Museum, students learn in a variety of environments. Our assemblies range in topics from bullying prevention, music workshops and environmental presentations. The engagement of our children is evident as our teachers realize that children learn in many, different ways.
Our staff is truly engaged in professional growth, which focuses on improving instruction for students. Through the teaching and learning cycles, our teachers use data to effectively focus on differentiating instruction so that each and every student can learn. We have full-day kindergarten and the kindergarten team ensures that students are immersed in play-based education as they learn and grow. The before and after school program allows families flexibility to balance their work schedules
Part of our culture is creating a healthy school. The Breakfast Club program and snack program are ways of encouraging healthy eating. We boast a continued emphasis on physical activities which students enjoy. There is daily exercise through DPA, intramural sports and a physical education program which integrates skills and person growth. At Silver Creek we believe in supporting families and students so that together we grow as a community.
