St. Gregory the Great is the newest elementary school from the Halton Catholic District School Board, and is the latest member of the St. Ignatius of Loyola family of schools. Its modern design is built to accommodate approximately 671 students, and has a one story child care centre connected to the school near the Kindergarten classrooms.
Rural Oakville, north of the city core, contains a mix of new developments, farmland, parkland, and yet-to-be-developed areas. The "New Communities of Oakville" are being built in this area, including 407 West, Sixteen Hollow, Glenorchy, and Joshua’s Meadows. The residential areas are planned to be large, single-detached homes, semi-detached homes, and 2- and 3-storey townhomes. These neighbourhoods are designed to be walkable communities with easy access to parks and trails as well as shopping and services.
