About Biidassige Mandamin PS

Formerly called Sir John A. Macdonald Public School, Biidassige Mandamin PS is a triple track school located in a well established neighbourhood in south Pickering. We currently have approximately 200 students in English classes ranging from Junior Kindergarten to grade 8 and close to 300 students in grade 1 to grade 8 French Immersion programs. As well, our school has three self-contained special education classes serving some of the special needs students in the region. Our strong academic focus reinforces the ongoing literacy, numeracy and assessment strategies in place to support all learners. All of our staff focus on using a differentiated approach to learning which takes into account student interests, learning styles, as well as academic readiness. Staff, students and parents work together to provide a rich educational experience.

Biidassige Mandamin PS is located in Bay Ridges

The Bay Ridges Neighbourhood, in south Pickering, is bordered by Frenchman's Bay on the west, Lake Ontario to the south, Highway 401 to the north, and a hydro corridor to the east. Residential development in this area occurred after 1960, and is a mix of detached, semi-detached, townhouse, and apartment dwellings. Two recent developments are the Nautical Village and San Francisco by the Bay. The Nautical Village is a popular tourist destination. The area was developed between 2004 and 2007 and includes residential apartments and townhouses, with shops, businesses, cafés and restaurants. San Francisco by the Bay includes a cluster of townhouse complexes, and high rise apartments with stores on the ground level, within a 5 minute walk of the Pickering GO train station. Bay Ridges also has an industrial district, east of Sandy Beach Road.
