Steelesview School provides a dynamic, positive, and productive environment for all students. It is an open area concept school in which staff work collaboratively to plan and deliver classroom programs so that all students can achieve success. There is a close and co-operative partnership between the school and the community that results in additional support, enhanced resources, and programs for students. With the implementation of the Full Day Kindergarten, Steelesview P.S. has opened a before and after school childcare program, which is run by PLASP Child Care Services. 

Student Life - Where You Belong

Steelesview has a rich history of giving back to the community. Our students participate in charity events such as the annual Terry Fox Run, the Craft and Card sale to raise money for students in Africa, the Hat and Mitten Tree, collecting hats and mittens for families in need along with collecting food items for the Salvation Army. The school offers a wide variety of extra-curricular activities, which broaden students' experiences beyond the regular program. Art club, drama and dance club, choir, house league sports and other activities as determined by student interest and participation continue to be offered.. We continue to have a very successful after-school specialty interest activity program which offers fee-paying classes such as pottery, chess, dance, basketball, Lego etc., organized by the Steelesview Parent Council.

What Sets Us Apart

With an ethnically diverse community we take pride in our school promoting positive social interactions among the students. Many of our teachers and students use a TRIBES approach to classroom management and social interactions. Other resources used include the Second Step Program, BRS team support and staff working with students. The result is that our students develop effective social skills and a respect for diversity.

Parent and Community Engagement

• Partnership with Tyndale College, York University, OISE and other Colleges and Faculties of Education
• School and class visits to local community centers and Bestview Park and Fitness Trail to promote and support the physical education program
• Program support through the Ontario Early Years Centre
• Active parent council who organize all fundraising activities, pizza lunches, milk program, special events, graduation, bake sales, community BBQ/Fun Fair
• Parent council organized after school fee paying activities program.
