East End-Danforth, also known as The Upper Beaches, is the neighbourhood directly north of the Beaches area in Toronto. The western part of the area was originally called Norway, and the larger area was once part of the Town of East Toronto. The area was also home to a number of industrial sites alongside the rail line, which runs just north of Gerrard. Today almost all of the industry has been replaced by large housing developments.
