What Sets Us Apart
Swansea is a school with a long history. It started as a two-room school house in 1891 and has gone through several expansions in 1928, 1953, 1985, and 2016. Our staff consists of a very dedicated group of professional educators who are committed to providing an outstanding school experience for our students. Our teachers and support staff run very vibrant co-curricular programs in which we encourage our students to take part. Swansea is a caring community who believes in "giving back". Every year we raise money to support our Holiday Fund, disaster relief (Tsunami, Haiti, Sudan), and international aid. Swansea also cares about our environment and is now an Eco School where we practice the 3 R's. In 1991 Swansea Public School celebrated its centenary. Over the years, the school's graduates have gone on to achieve great success in their careers and in community service, fueled in part by the strong educational foundation gained at Swansea Public School.
Parent and Community Engagement
Our School Council is a vibrant and involved group of parents and community members who work tirelessly to make our school a great place to learn. They meet the 3rd Wednesday of every month. SC members participate on Health & Safety, Communication and Fundraising committees as well as other school mandated and TDSB mandated committees. They organize several fundraising events - QSP, Christmas Craft Fair, Chapters Night, pizza days and Dance-a-thon. These funds go to sponsor many events within our school - Welcome Back BBQ, Scrabble Tournament, Family Literacy Night. Their mission statement is to develop a partnership between members of the Swansea School Community and to aspire to the highest possible standards of education in an inclusive, nurturing, safe and challenging environment.
