Our School
Louis-Honore Frechette P.S. is named after Louis-Honoré Fréchette (1839-1908) who was the unofficial poet-laureate of Quebec. He was the most important literary figure in 19th century Quebec. He practiced law and sat as an MP for 4 years. His best known work was La légende d'un peuple. It is the responsibility of all members of the Louis-Honore Frechette Community to create and maintain a safe, positive and supportive teaching and learning environment for everyone. As a community of learners, we expect all our members to demonstrate Respectful, Reasonable and Responsible behaviour at all times.
Programs
As with each school in the York Region District School Board, Louis-Honore Frechette P.S. support student learning through the curriculum standards set out by the Ontario Ministry of Education and many other co-curricular activities.
A focus on Leadership: Grade 7 and 8 students are invited to be active members of our Student Leadership Team. These enthusiastic students organize school assemblies, raise funds, organize spirit days and bring forward their opinions on pertinent school issues.
A focus on literacy: Based on our School Plan, we continue to focus on ensuring that all students are able to read unfamiliar content area texts in French by the end of grade 2. Support from our SERT, our Literacy Teachers and Teacher Librarian is provided to primary teachers and classes to help this occur. Improved student achievement in the junior division is a beginning focus area.

The YRDSB remains committed to the inclusion of anti-racist and equity education in its policies and programs.
