About Woodland PS

Woodland P.S. was officially opened in 1967, Canada’s Centennial year. Woodland Public School is surrounded by protected woodlots and although the exact origin of the name for the school is not clear, one visit to the site will give you a clue as to how it may have been named. The classroom windows face a conservation area and teachers and students can view the glory of each season. Woodland has the honour of having been one of the first French Immersion schools for the York Region District School Board. Teachers who visit Woodland often reflect on how they began their teaching careers as French Immersion teachers here. Woodland is a small school community where everyone cares about each other. There is a close knit relationship between staff, students, and parents.

Woodland PS is located in Royal Orchard

The Royal Orchard neighbourhood, also known as Langstaff, is in northwest Markham, between Bayview Ave on the east and Yonge St on the west, north of Romfield Circuit and Thornheights Road to the north, and with the Rouge River to the south. Royal Orchard Blvd transects the neighbourhood east–west, and a railway line also divides the neighbourhood. A golf course lies in the southern region. Commercial areas and high-rise complexes lie along Yonge St., while most of the area has single-detached homes built in the 1970s-1980s.
