Our School
North Hill Private School was co- founded in 1996 by educator, Doriana Velardo, and is a co-educational, non-denominational school, governed by the Ministry of Education. Since it’s inauguration, at the original Richmond Hill campus, North Hill has grown and now operates in Vaughan at its Woodbridge Campus. North Hill Private School offers an innovative program that combines the Montessori Method of education along with the Reggio Emilia Project Approach.
North Hill Private School is a unique environment where students engage in intellectual and artistic learning experiences that “promote thinking and excite the imagination”. Our vision is to facilitate student’s social, intellectual, emotional, physical, and creative development through ‘hands on, and minds on’ learning experiences. Our advanced, enriched curriculum (one to two years ahead of the Ontario curriculum) integrates a well-balanced arts and academic program.
Our Philosophy
Many experts agree that children are intrinsically motivated and will learn more between the ages of 0 and 6 years than at any other time of their lives. Documented evidence proves that children who participate in an enriched, high quality early childhood education will develop confidence and lifelong learning skills. A well-balanced curriculum will ensure that they receive the best possible opportunities for intellectual and emotional growth.
Our Objectives
- to provide a secure, positive and intellectually stimulating environment that nurtures individual development
- to encourage independent thinking and self-directed learning in a child-centred environment
- to provide learning experiences that develop life skills promoting self-discipline, effective problem solving, perseverance and concentration
- to provide multimodal learning experiences that develop children’s unique gifts and multiple intelligences
- to empower children by respecting their choices and input into the curriculum
