About Winchester PS

Winchester Public School is located in a residential area in the Village of Brooklin, just north of the Town of Whitby. It opened in 1999 with 400 students ranging from grades JK - 8. Brooklin is one of the fastest growing communities in the Durham Region. We are a unique, dual track school with students attending classes on both a traditional and modified (balanced) school year calendar. Our modified year calendar students begin their school year in August. The modified year is broken into five segments of eight or nine weeks in length. Segments are separated by one or two week breaks. Students on this calendar substitute five weeks of the August summer holiday for five weeks of holidays dispersed throughout the school year.
