School Information

 Sir William Stephenson Public School (an amalgamation of Kathleen Rowe Public School and R. A. Hutchinson Public School) opened in South Whitby in September of 2004.  We fondly refer to our school as “Camp X”, in honour of the Special Training School which operated in Whitby during the Second World War, run by Sir William Stephenson himself. Our school serves Junior Kindergarten to Grade Eight students. We are also pleased to offer the Early Learning Program, which provides all-day programming for Junior and Senior Kindergarten students.

Our aim is to provide the children in your community with a caring, secure, nurturing and academically challenging learning environment. We will inspire children to become responsible, independent people by instilling the values of honesty, hard work, and respect for self, others and property.

At Sir William Stephenson Public School, we have a dedicated, professional and knowledgeable staff committed to serving the many and varied needs of our students.  As educators, we recognize the many positive gains for all of us; especially the students, when home and school develop supportive, positive partnerships.We encourage you to be actively involved in your child's education. By volunteering to assist in classrooms, helping with special events and excursions, joining and/or attending meetings of the School Community Council, monitoring homework completion, discussing school each day at home and keeping good communication channels open, you will become partners in the education of your child(ren).
