We have a dedicated staff with a strong commitment to student well-being and achievement. Our goal is to continue to build and maintain supportive relationships between students, families, staff and community members. We are committed to providing a positive and inclusive learning environment where everyone feels safe, welcome and respected.
We believe that parents have a strong influence on their children’s attitudes towards learning and school. Ballantrae PS has established a wonderful tradition of cooperation, support, and mutual respect between home and school. This partnership is essential to the academic and social growth of students. As educators, we honestly feel that this is one of the most important factors in ensuring student success.
Mission
At Ballantrae P. S., our mission is to strive together as a community of learners, to model and build character and to provide opportunities for all learners to demonstrate success in a safe, clean, inclusive, and productive learning environment.
History
Ballantrae P.S. is named after Ballantrae, Ontario. We are located just east of the intersection of Hwy 48 and Aurora Side Road. Our school motto is Be the Best You Can Be! Our school mascot is the Bulldog.
Facilities
Ballantrae P.S. was officially opened in 1973. The original school, built in the early 1900s, burnt down in 1971, and replaced by the current facility. The original Ballantrae School bell sits in front of the school as a reminder of our history.
Programs
As with each school in the York Region District School Board, Ballantrae P.S. supports student learning through the curriculum standards set out by the Ontario Ministry of Education and many other co-curricular activities.
Our school participates in a wide variety of inter- and intra-mural sports and our team, The Bulldogs, have been very successful. As well, we have primary and junior choirs, which perform for special occasions. Trekking for Trillium is a relatively new activity which Ballantrae students and teachers participate in, and through which we promote fitness as well as raise funds for Camp Trillium. Trekking alternates annually with the Terry Fox Run, which is our other "social service" fundraiser. In addition, we have Library Club, and House Leagues, Homework Club, and Co-operative Games groups.
Ballantrae Public School also:

- is an Eco School focused on environmental improvement initiatives, such as greening strategies litterless lunches, and re-naturalized habitats. Annually, students from JK to grade 8 participate in tree planting at various sites in the Whitchurch-Stouffville area.
