The Applewood neighbourhood is in east Mississauga, to the south. One of the oldest neighbourhoods in Mississauga, the area was largely rural until the mid-1950s, when development began. Today Applewood is an established residential community, providing a variety of housing types, including single and semi-detached homes, townhouses, high-rise and low-rise apartments, and mobile homes.
