Beechborough-Greenbrook is part of the Silverthorn neighbourhood. It was part of the former City of York before the amalgamation of Toronto in 1998. The hilly terrain of Silverthorn is comparable to nearby areas but distinguishable compared with the rest of the city, which in general slopes south to the lake. The area contains a mix of detached homes, apartment buildings and commercial properties.
