Howard Public School is located in the High Park/Roncesvalles community. It began as a small country school in 1874. The present building was constructed in 1970 as an "open concept" school with three "houses": Anderson House, Maison Neuve and Clarke House. Each house has a common area surrounded by six individual classrooms. The three Kindergartens and music room are in separate classrooms.

• Howard Public School is a dual-track school offering an English program from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6 and an Early French Immersion program from Senior Kindergarten to Grade 6. Each program enhances the other.

Student Life - Where You Belong

Howard students may choose from a wide array of extra-curricular activities such as book clubs, library helpers, chess and board games, juggling club, French club, and playground buddies. Our after-four programme varies each year and includes activities such as board games, baking, soccer, dance, and arts and crafts.

Parent and Community Engagement

The school collaborates with community/social agencies, e.g., local church, Earlscourt Counselling Services, Roncesvalles Business Association, Redwood Shelter. - Co-op Students from Humber College, Humberside Collegiate, Ryerson and George Brown volunteer or complete placements in classrooms. The Home and School Association is actively involved in the publication of Howard Happenings a bi-monthly newsletter. - A large number of regular parent volunteers assist in classrooms, the gym, the library, the music program and regular special events. The Annual Fall Fete which involves dozens of volunteers is the highlight of the first semester and brings the community together. It is usually held in Mid-October and attracts several hundred people. Parents organise regular thank you luncheons for staff to show their appreciation.
