Elia Middle School is named after the original farming community of Elia. It is a school with a highly diverse student population. In 2011, Elia became part of the Model Schools for Inner City Program. We achieve student success through the Five Essential Components for Model Schools. They are Innovative Teaching and Learning; Support Services to meet the social, emotional and physical well-being of students; Embracing School as the Heart of the Community; Participating in Research, review and evaluation of students and program; and Sharing Best Practises. We value a strong partnership between our students, staff, parents and community. We endeavour to truly make Elia a great place to be!
The Pride of Elia
Elia prides itself in providing innovative opportunities for our students. This school year, Elia Middle School partnered with CW Jefferys CI to participate in a pilot STEM project. The aim of the project is to inspire interest and excite passion for science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and reach students at the stage they start making career choices. Elia is also an ECO friendly school where staff and students work together to promote a greener environment. We also take pride in our arts programs: band, violin, steel pan, choir and African drumming and dance.
