Rippleton Public School is located just off Leslie Street north of Lawrence Avenue. It has been serving the educational needs of the community since it was built in 1955.
- Rippleton's staff and students represent many different countries and speak a wide variety of languages.
- A dynamic childcare program, the Rippleton Roadsters, provides care for over 250 children from the age of two and a half to twelve at both the Rippleton P.S. and St. Bona Venture C.S. sites. A close working partnership with the childcare staff ensures a continuum of learning and care.
- Rippleton is a community school with a "family" atmosphere. Every adult and child in the building makes a contribution towards the growth of all of our students.
Student Life - Where You Belong
Students at Rippleton have many opportunities to participate in a variety of sports, music, academic, dance, games and art activities. Many students choose to do Mad Science where they investigate different scientific problems, or learn Chess in a fun way, during lunch. Others might join the guitar club or learn Hip Hop dancing, participate in the sketching club or try out for one of the many sports teams running throughout the year. Students also participate in a variety of Leadership programs that build self esteem and offer ways in which to develop positive role models and contribute to the development of the younger students. Grade 5 and 6 students can be table supervisors for the grade 1-3 students during lunch time, or become Student Ambassadors which sign students in and out for safety during recess times for the washroom and drinks. As well, there are opportunities for partner work with younger grades and classroom assistance for primary teachers when appropriate. These skills help our junior students to explore their interpersonal skills and interests while making positive impact on their school community. They do an incredible job!
Parent and Community Engagement
- Collaboration with Windfields Junior High School and St Andrew's Junior High School - Extensive outreach work for less fortunate students both at home and abroad through United Way, the Terry Fox Run, Jump Rope for Heart, Daily Bread Food Bank - Working with Toronto Public Health to implement a variety of programs including Active Schools and Toronto Schools On The Move - Working with Metropolitan Toronto Police to implement programs such as street proofing, Internet safety and VIP (Values,Influences & Peers) - School Council with very active, supportive members - Regular parent and community volunteers assisting in school classrooms and in the library, as well as with special projects and the Safe Arrival Program - Financial and human resources for enriching the students' experiences -
Imagine a TDSB where all schools share a common core set of characteristics. They are community-driven and focused on teaching and learning. Students and parents have a wide variety of opportunities and there are enough students in every school to increase program choices.
