The Gr. 1 - 5 student population represents 47 countries. We are committed to providing every student with a high standard of education through excellence in teaching and the promotion of strong community partnerships. Goals: 1. Improve student achievement in literacy and numeracy 2. Ensure a safe and caring school environment 3. Work in partnership with our parents and our community.
Focus on Literacy
We are committed to building a solid language foundation for all of our students, many of whom are newcomers to Canada. We recognize that it often takes five to seven years for a student to become academically proficient in a second language. We use a variety of strategies and supports to develop literacy in all its forms.

Our School
Thorncliffe Park P.S. was built in 1961. To accommodate our growing population, an addition was built and officially opened on Oct. 23, 2003. Some highlights included a large muscle area for primary students, three gymnasiums, an advanced library system with indoor/outdoor theatre, and several enclosed courtyards with gardens for hands-on environmental studies. The next expansion occurred on Sept. 3, 2013, when Fraser Mustard Early Learning Academy officially opened next door to welcome 650 full-day kindergarten students, making Thorncliffe Park a school for grades 1 - 5.
