Highfield Junior School, originally built in 1845, is located in the North Albion community in the West Region 1 quadrant of the TDSB. With just under 800 students from Kindergarten through Grade 5, our school believes in the highest quality of holistic education through both academic and co -curricular success. Highfield Community Enrichment Project
The George Hull-Highfield Community Enrichment Project is an integral part of the Highfield JS community. It is part of Better Beginnings, Better Futures which is one of the most ambitious research projects on the long-term impacts of early childhood development programming ever initiated in Canada. It has three main components; in-school support, family support and community partnerships.

From 3 To 3®
Highfield JS's primary classes benefit from the From 3 To 3® program which applies current research to take a comprehensive approach to children’s language, social understanding and literacy competence. Four stages, from age 3 to the end of grade 3, are designed to ensure that children have: the language ability necessary to communicate and to learn; the theory of mind or social understanding to think about what other people think, assess inferences, and interpret the perspectives of others in order to reason and judge the meaning of communication, reading and writing.

National Award Winning Phys.Ed Program
Highfield is very proud of our engaging Physical and Health Education program which was recently awarded the Elementary Platinum Recognition Award from Physical and Health Education Canada! This award is a testament of the creative and inclusive approach of our dedicated teaching team which ensures that all students are set up for success!
Uniform Policy
Since the spring of 2009, Highfield students have worn uniforms of black pants, white shirts and maroon vests/sweaters with the Highfield crest. Uniforms are mandatory for all students in Grades 1 to 5. Many parents choose to buy a crest for $5.00 which they sew onto a white shirt. Parents can get details regarding purchasing a full uniform from our school office.

Student Life - Where You Belong
Student life at Highfield includes multiple rich opportunities for learning through "real world" authentic connections using innovative technologies, such as: SMARTboards, iPads and various virtual communication tools. All students are invited to join our daily Intramural lunch program and our numerous sports teams and clubs which include: Cricket, Lego, Chess, Math Games, Drama, Visual Arts, Dance, Eco-Team, Health and Wellness to name a few! Our Primary and Junior choirs showcase their talents both within the Highfield community and at events across Toronto. Students are also empowered in key leadership roles as Conflict Resolution Managers, Lunchtime Leaders, and Student Ambassadors. Through our partnership with the Albion Boys and Girls Club, students are welcome to participate in our after school tutoring and homework initiative to foster an already rich academic life at Highfield. Highfield's Nutrition Program offers students daily Breakfast/Snack Programs and hot lunches for three days per week to ensure that all students are best prepared for their learning!

What sets Highfield JS apart is:
- Our partnership with the Highfield Community Enrichment Project which supports our Kindergarten classes with Enrichment Workers.
- Our Volunteers who enrich students and families in many capacities including within the Parenting Centre and Highfield Nutrition program. The "G. Smith Humanitarian Award" is named after one of our many dedicated volunteers!
- We published our very own book with Scholastic entitled, Counting on Zero (ISBN 978 0 545 99405 7) in 2007. An incredible honour!
- International Languages Program featuring classes in Arabic, Aramaic, Bengali, Hindi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Somali and Urdu
Parent and Community Engagement
Our Highfield School Council promotes a positive school-community partnership in many ways including initiating a school uniform policy, ensuring our Safe Arrival process continues to improve through our Kiss'n'Ride program and new drop off zone. Parents are also active contributors to our school Fundraising Committee! Our many wonderful volunteers make our classrooms and programs a true partnership between school and community. Our Action Team Partnership committee includes members from Council, leaders from the local daycare facilities, our Community Service Partner and from the Highfield Community Enrichment Project. This dynamic group continues to co-plan and foster networking amongst parents.
