Duke of Connaught has a long tradition in East Toronto. In 1912, the school was built next to the historic Ashbridge House on land that had been the orchard of the Ashbridge Estate. Woodfield Senior School was added in the late 1950s. The Junior and Senior schools combined in 1989 to form Duke of Connaught Public School. Today, we are a vibrant JK to Grade Eight school that reflects the diversity and richness of contemporary Toronto.
We Believe
At Duke of Connaught we set high standards for our community of learners. We strive to develop critical Literacy and Numeracy skills in order to best prepare our students for the future. We have over 800 students from JK to Gr 8 in our English, Fr. Immersion, Extended French, and Gifted Programs. Our students reflect Toronto's rich diversity, bringing children of all backgrounds together to enhance the educational experience for all. Students benefit from facilities and activities such as our library, Maker Lab, gym and swimming pool, as well sports, clubs and music programs.

Our Programs
Duke of Connaught offers three different programs to our community. We offer the English Program (Jr. Kindergarten to Grade 8), the Early French Immersion Program (from Sr. Kindergarten to Grade 8), as well as the Extended French Program (from Grades 4 to 8). Because we offer a middle school program, we welcome each year Grade 7 students from surrounding K-6 schools.
Supporting Physical, Emotional and Social Needs
At the Duke of Connaught, we endeavour to meet the needs of the whole child. We work closely with parents and community agencies to better support the physical, emotional and social needs of our students. Our schools offers hearing and vision screening, nutrition programs. We also offer a vast array of clubs and sporting activities.

Student Life - Where You Belong
Students at Duke have the opportunity to develop, not only academically, but also socially, emotionally and physically. The staff offers a wide variety of extra-curricular activities such as Pr., Jr. and Sr. Choirs, Band and Strings Program, First Lego League Robotics Club, Art Club, Newspaper and Yearbook Clubs and the French Café in order to develop and enhance the personal interests of the students. As well, the students can develop their leadership skills and social responsibilities through participation in Student Council, and Library Club. There are also many opportunities to belong to Sport Teams, such as Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Football, Ice Hockey, Cross-Country, Swimming, Soccer, Cricket, and Track and Field. Our students are provided with many possibilities to grow and flourish.

Parent and Community Engagement
We are extremely proud of our Parent and Community Engagement. The Duke Hub site works together with Applegrove Community Complex, S.H. Armstrong Recreation Centre, Woodgreen Child Care to provide services for our community from infants to seniors. Parent volunteers are active in our Nutrition Programs, classroom and school events. We have a strong School Council that meets monthly and contributes to school life in many ways.- Collaboration with community/social agencies - Close links with other off-site programs: - Exploring community partnerships with local businesses - Continuing Education is able to support parent workshops. Parent committees have included: Safe and Caring Schools, Social/Events, Academic Committee, First Aid and First Aid Training, Sports Committee, Equity Committee and Nutrition Committee.
