At Fisherville we strive to provide a dynamic and supportive learning environment for all of our students. Character Education Program
We focus on character development, placing special emphasis on the the 10 traits TDSB identifies as essential: Respect, Responsibility Empathy, Kindness and Caring, Teamwork, Fairness, Honesty, Co-operation, Integrity and Perseverance. Each month teachers recognize a student in their class who best exemplifies one of these attributes. Photos of students who are selected to receive this award are displayed in the showcase opposite the office. Throughout the month students work collaboratively to create performances which illustrate these attributes, to present at the monthly Character Education assembly.

SMART Board Technology
Fisherville has placed SMART or Promethean Boards in classrooms to expand teaching and learning opportunities for both teachers and students. Bringing this form of technology into the classroom assists students and enhances their understanding of concepts in various subject areas. Students really enjoy the integration of technology into their classrooms.
Breakfast Program
All students are invited to join the breakfast club which runs each morning before school starts.A nutritious snack consisting of a fruit, grain and dairy is provided.
WIN Program
At the end of August the school hosts the special program "WIN", developed by our Settlement Workers for newcomer students and their families. The WIN program provides orientation programs for both parents and students. Parents receive information about the TDSD. Students learn all about Fisherville so that they know what to expect during their first days in the school.
Student Leadership
At Fisherville we are committed to expanding youth leadership opportunities for our students. Some leadership opportunities available to students include: Student Council Representative, Office Helper, Student Announcer, and Tech Crew.

Student Life - Where You Belong
Fisherville students have many different opportunities to get involved at school. In addition to various curricular and co-curricular activities, we organize special activities during the year to increase student participation in school life. The student council organizes several dances though out the year, Spirit Days and special pizza lunches. Grade 7 students go to a residential Outdoor Education Program at Mono Cliffs (TDSB). In May we hold a Family, Fun and Fitness evening during which parents and students attend a BBQ and participate in various activities such as, Yoga, Zumba, Volleyball, Soccer, Basket Ball and Badminton. We finish off the year with exciting events for our graduating classes. Participating in school activities builds self-confidence as well as school spirit!
What Sets Us Apart
We hold recognition assemblies to celebrate our Honour Roll students, athletes, students with perfect attendance, most improved students, students who contribute to the life of the school, and students who exemplify TDSB Character attributes. We run support programs for our newcomer students to facilitate a smooth transition for them to the Canadian educational system. Project. We have a Settlement Worker in the school who supports newcomers as they begin settling into the community. Our school benefits from the partnership we have with the Settlement Education Partnership (SEPT). Through this avenue we have access to SEPT workers who speak Korean, Farsi, Hebrew and Russian. They in turn work extensively with newcomers in our parental community who require support as they adjust to life in a new country.
Parent and Community Engagement
The Fisherville Parent Advisory Council meets periodically to discuss school needs, as well as plan activities and workshops. Fisherville hosts parent workshops during the year based on parent interest and needs.
