Our school originally opened in 1958 as Cedar Grove Public School. In 1978, we became part of an amalgamation of three schools Wilmington, Cedar Grove and Dufferin Heights Junior High under the name Charles H. Best Elementary and Middle School, East And West. In June 2002, Charles H. Best West became a school on its own, offering programs for Junior Kindergarten to Grade 4. During 2003-2004, the school community completed the TDSB process to change our name to Wilmington Elementary School. In 2018 our school became a JK-Grade 3 School. As well as our vibrant elementary program, Wilmington also houses our fabulous Parenting Centre as well as Wilmington Best Child Care and the after school International Languages Elementary Program.
21st Century
Learning Wilmington Elementary school has been working to develop our students' and teachers' 21st Century Learning skills. We have been fortunate to receive 120 laptops from the Mobile Computing strategy 2.0 initiative from the TDSB. We also have numerous SMARTboards in our school as well as a class set of ipads and digital cameras. This technology empowers our school community of learners to be inspired to reach learning goals through motivating, timely and engaging ways. Students are learning to code and take part in STEM activities each week. We look forward to tracking the impact this has upon our student success!

School Council
School Council is both your voice in the school, and our place for parents and staff to make Wilmington an even better place for our children to learn and grow. All parents are very welcome to attend as many of our monthly meetings as they wish, and they have the opportunity to meet and work with Principal Trajkovski and our new executive. Please feel welcome to volunteer!
Small, But Mighty
Wilmington has just under 300 students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 4. With the smaller numbers, we are able to make sure every child is known and valued, and has the opportunity to grow personally and academically. We pride ourselves on the quiet, warm and welcoming atmosphere that has been developed with such a wide range of students.
Community Partnerships
We welcome community members to assist us in meeting the needs of our students. Our doors are open!!! We have numerous partnerships with Northview Heights Secondary School and are looking to expand our relationships with community members involved in the arts, sports and health and wellness.
Diveristy of Backgrounds
We are very proud of our families and community. With just over 300 students, we have families that speak 41 different languages and come from 27 different countries. The Hertitage Language program provides opportunities for students to learn about the diverse cultures of our school community. It is our breadth of experiences that make us stronger and wiser!
