What Sets Us Apart
Brookhaven's school mission is to create a learning community where every individual is successful, valued, respected and empowered. Critical to that success and to the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of each child, is eating healthy and being physically fit. Accordingly, Brookhaven offers its students a daily snack program as well as a daily milk program. Additionally, through our partnership with Kidsmart School Lunch, we also offer students warm lunches at a very reasonable cost, delivered to the school, up to 5 days per week. Brookhaven also offers lunchroom supervision every day of the week. The Brookhaven Childcare facility which is located in Brookhaven Public School is administered by a non-profit Board of Directors separate from the school.
Parent and Community Engagement
There is ongoing collaboration with a vast array of community and social services agencies to support, inform and educate students and their families (Ex. Macaulay, Yorktown Family Services, Toronto Public Health, etc.). The Brookhaven School Council meets regularly and represents the school community. It provides a forum through which parents can contribute to improving student achievement and school performance. On a regular basis, parents also gather for our Meet & Greet sessions that focus on a wide range of topics such as parenting, nutrition, and ways to support students in the home.
