About Derrydown Public School

We maintain a climate of high expectations for all because every student can learn! Derrydown Public School is located south of Finch Avenue and west of Keele Street, just south of the York University's main campus. The school first opened in 1964. The school currently has about 500 students in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 5. Derrydown has a diverse student population. About 20 languages and 30 countries are represented. This diversity helps our students to learn to interact positively and collaboratively with each other, preparing them for an increasingly pluralistic society.

Derrydown Public School is located in York University Heights

York University Heights, also known as Northwood Park, is one of Toronto's northern-most neighbourhoods. The neighbourhood is so named because it contains the main campus of York University. The majority of people in this neighbourhood live in high-rise buildings; however, it also contains a significant number of detached and semi-detached residences, as well as a recent new urbanism development, the Village at York.
