Duffin's Bay Ignites Learning

Our focus as a learning community is in direct alignment with the DDSB Strategic Priorities to "Ignite Learning". Our academic program provides a rich environment which embraces a variety of research-based instructional strategies through rich, inquiry-based learning opportunities.  Educators and students create safe learning environments, recognizing the unique equity and diversity of our community through social justice and character education. Throughout the learning process, students and educators engage in responsive assessment strategies which support students to improve their learning. Our academic priorities are developed collaboratively and informed by a variety of data sources on student achievement.  

Our School

Duffin’s Bay Public School is a JK-8 school with an enrollment of 240 students.  Our students are actively involved in a variety of academic and co-curricular programs.  We have several combined grade classrooms. Our students are supported by talented volunteers and an active engaged community. We are proud partners in leading and learning with the Central East Autism Program and the Lakeridge Community Support Services Autism Class and PRYDE, our before- and after-school daycare provider.

The Durham District School Board Equity and Inclusive Education Policy #4107 is a commitment to embracing diverse social realities; while maintaining positive, safe and inclusive environments for all students and staff. The policy is a reflection of Ontario's Equity and Inclusive Education Strategy, supporting all areas of Durham District School Board principles, practices, and guidelines. Duffin's Bay P.S. supports this policy through inclusive activities in our school and school community.

We value and respect all members of our school community and as such ensure that resources are provided that reflect the work being done to address anti-discrimination and inclusive education. These issues are discussed in the Ministry of Education's Curriculum documents to promote fairness, healthy relationships, and active, responsible citizenship.
