We are a small school in a rural area of York Region, surrounded by nature. Our 250 students all travel to and from school by bus resulting in a large number of school buses servicing our students daily. We have very supportive parent community who are involved in many activities - School Council, volunteers in the classrooms, support for academic learning, and supervisors for field trips, just to name a few. Our students are respectful and hard-working. They enjoy their time at school, interacting with peers, joining clubs and teams, and developing their skills as digital learners. Thanks to the fundraising efforts of our parents, we are fortunate to have a wide range of technology for students and teachers to use, enhancing the learning opportunities each day.
Each month, we celebrate Character Traits at our Sharing Assemblies. Students are recognized for demonstrating good character, perfect monthly attendance, Honour Roll, participation on sports teams and clubs, and more. Students show great appreciation for each other and take pleasure in everyone's accomplishments.
Safety and well-being are the priorities every day! Students are well-versed in procedures for safety through regular drills and discussions. We work closely with our Community Police Officer and Fire Department Staff to ensure the safety of everyone at school. As well, we provide education for the students and community on social media use so that they are learning to be safe and aware while online.
The staff at WHPS is a dedicated, cohesive group of educators who know all the children in the school, and who work together to ensure that the children's needs are addressed. The environment of WHPS is a warm and inviting one. We welcome you to our school!
Schools open doors to opportunity by enabling students to discover their strengths and experience the joy of learning. We inspire students to strive for personal success by developing essential skills and attitudes needed to pursue their studies and become contributing citizens.
Whitchurch Highlands P.S. is named after the geographic area in which the school is located. The 17.5-acre site for our school is the highest point on the Oak Ridges Moraine. We are located on the North-West corner of Warden Avenue and Bloomington Road, in Stouffville.
The WOLF is our school's symbol. Pack News is the name of our school's monthly newsletter. Our sports teams are called the Whitchurch Wolves.
Whitchurch Highlands P.S. was officially opened in 1969. The single storey building had a very unique design of a round hallway with the gym and library in the middle. However, in 2010, the school was rebuilt with a very simple design. We have 12 regular classrooms for students from JK to grade 8, and 2 community classrooms for children with special needs. Our library is bright and beautiful, and serves as a classroom at times. Outdoors, we have a large yard, two play structures, a soccer field, and a baseball diamond. We also have two outdoor classrooms where students can continue their learning in the midst of a natural setting. The gymnasium is large and there is a full stage which is used for presentations throughout the year.
