Our School

Khalsa Community School is a private school registered with the Ministry of Education. We offer standard Ontario Education Curriculum complemented with a focus on faith and Sikh philosophy from the teachings of Guru Granth Sahib in addition to Punjabi and Kirtan classes. Since its inception in 1995, Khalsa Community School has been offering student's quality educational programs from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12. Over the years we have grown in size and now have over 800 registered elementary students. Even with our growth, we have maintained our value of 'small school camaraderie' which is about welcoming everyone and working collaboratively.

We offer full day programs to our Junior Kindergarten and Senior Kindergarten classes allowing children to be involved in many academic, athletic and extracurricular activities. Our class sizes are just right for individual attention. We put an emphasis on individual achievement and the overall development of the necessary skills for success. Our evaluation criterion ensures high academic standards that guarantee success for our graduates.

Extracurricular Activities

The benefits of extracurricular activities are numerous such as learning organization and time management skills, exposure to new ideas and interests, responsibility and commitment, and a sense of purpose. Some extracurricular activities at Khalsa Community School are school band, Kirtan Darbar, book club, writing club, yearbook club, debating club, student council, science fair, talent show, school book fairs, citizenship week, world food day, human rights day, remembrance day, international women’s day, international turban day, world toys drive, flag day, earth day, speech competition, Punjabi writing competition, Visual Art show, Khalsa Olympic day, school idol show and annual fest.

Under the guidance of caring and qualified teachers, our students are provided with a solid academic foundation. While a structured approach to learning is the best way to grow academically, prayer is the best way to grow spiritually. Students at Khalsa Community School participate in daily prayer which strengthens their mind and enables them to focus and concentrate thereby improving their academic abilities. We believe that prayer allows students to reach their full potential and improve their self-image, imparting them with pride and confidence in the Sikh religion. We encourage our students to think independently, train their mind for spiritual growth and to become life-long learners.
