Fallingdale Public School opened in 1971 and serves students from kindergarten to grade 5. It is a small community school in a diverse neighbourhood. There are approximately 26 languages other than English that are spoken in family homes. The first of many special needs classes came to Fallingdale in 1989 and are still an integral part of the school population. It is Fallingdale’s mission to focus on high academic achievement, develop critical thinking skills and develop an accepting, respectful and engaging community that guides students to become responsible citizens and independent lifelong learners. We believe that this will happen with the cooperation of teachers, parents, students and the surrounding community.
The Southgate neighbourhood is in southeast Brampton, and is one of the older neighborhoods in the city, one of Bramalea's alphabetically-named planned developments beginning in the 1970s. This neighbourhood's street names are the "E" and "F" phases. Housing is a mix of single-detached homes, semi-detached homes, and townhome complexes. The neighbourhood has a recreation centre, plenty of green space, park lands, trails, and schools, and there is a commercial/industrial area in the south end.
